English-language course of twintowns at lake Velence in Hungary

The Council of Europe and the Hungarian National Association of Local Authorities (TÖOSZ) has managed the Local Government Best Practice Program since 2008. In 2012 the category of Best twin-town meeting was announced. The 13th district of Budapest won the special prize of the jury at this competition with its best practice.

Since 2000, 13th district has organized a summer camp in English as a tradition. 25 students between 13-16 years old from twin-towns (Vienna-Floridsdorf, Warsaw- Ochota district, Sovata in Romania, Osijek in Croatia, Kosice in Slovakia) come with a basic or intermediary level English. They are put in various groups and communicate with each other during English lessons and free-time activities, get to know each others’ cultural values, exchange experiences, opinions on European values and try to find answers to burning European issues.
